Thurrock Junior Netball League

Thurrock has been home to a successful junior league for over 25 years. Originally set up and organised by Jean Jones and Marlene Morton-Holmes, it is now run by a hardworking independent committee. Several NSL superstars played in the Thurrock league during their formative years including Funmi Fadoju (Pulse) and Georgia Lees (Mavericks).

All Junior League matches are played at Mossbourne Portside Academy (previously known as Hassenbrook Academy) on Sunday mornings between 9am and 2pm. The winter season starts in mid September and runs through until early January. The summer season starts mid March and ends in early July.

Currently there are over 90 teams from 13 clubs from Thurrock and other surrounding netball counties competing in 16 divisions with girls from Year 3 to Year 11. At Thurrock Junior League clubs are not restricted by age banding and can ensure players and teams compete to the best of their abilities, although some divisions are specifically designated for primary school age players.

England Netball’s Codes of Conduct set out the standards and expectations expected of those in the sport of netball, and these promote respect, good sportsmanship, high standards of behaviour and ethics.
